Working Characteristics
All PROMARINE® panels contain no asbestos or other mineral fibers.
No special precautions are necessary when working with the panels. High
pressure laminate (HPL) is suitable for bonding to all PROMARINE® panels.
Custom Plastics can also bond aluminum, stainless steel and galvaneald to the
PROMARINE® cores for use in galleys and crews lounges.
The adhesives used will be the same that were successfully tested by
Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) and submitted to the U.S.C.G. for the
certificates of approvals.
PROMARINE® laminated panels should not be used, or stored, in conditions where
the relative humidity falls below 35% or rises above 85% and where the maximum
temperature exceeds 35°C or 95°F.
Special considerations must be taken into account in areas where the panels
will be subject to continuous drying i.e. behind radiators, or in areas that
are constantly wet. Advice should be sought from Promat Technical Services
Department.
Note: All PROMARINE® fire tests have been conducted by IMO approved
laboratories, using production panels independently selected and labelled by
National Authority, Classification Society or Notified Body representatives.

Lead Times
Custom Plastics stocks the PROMARINE®-640 core in 9.5mm, 12.7mm,
15.9mm and 19.1mm thicknesses and the PROMARINE®-450 in 16mm and 19mm in 4 x
8s. We also stock 4 x 10s for 12.7mm and thicker cores for the PROMARINE®-640
and 16mm, 19mm PROMARINE®-450. All these cores are stocked in our Folsom,
California, USA plant.
PROMARINE® panels laminated with formica laminate can be shipped within 7
working days of receiving an order. Other laminates carry a longer lead time
and a higher price and should be checked on a 'per job' basis.
The range of finishes include woodgrains, plain colors and patterns. All
laminates have been successfully tested to the IMO FTP Code, Annex 1, Parts 2
and 5.
Working and Handling
PROMARINE® can be cut and or drilled using standard joinery tools,
although dust extraction equipment is recommended if using power tools. Panels
do not require any specialised handling equipment and should be stored indoors
on the pallet until required.
M.S.D.S. sheets are available from the Technical Services Department and, as
with any other materials, should be read before working with the board. The
board is not classified as a dangerous substance and no special provisions are
required regarding the transportation and disposal of the product.

PROMARINE® panels laminated with H.P.L. laminate, when performing cut-outs all
corners must be drilled and radiused. Square cut corners will result in
cracking of the H.P.L. and does not comply with the H.P.L. technical
specifications.
PROMARINE® panels have good screwholding qualities. However, we recommend that,
where possible, normal wall fixtures, such as bookcases, shelves, lights etc.
are attached to the panel steelwork. If attaching directly into the panel,
decorative laminate face should be drilled for steel inserts or sleeves to
prevent laminate cracking. It is also recommended that the insert or sleeve be
coated with PVA glue, prior to final fitting.Where aesthetically acceptable,
bulkhead and overhead fittings should be through bolted. Heavier items such as
wash basins, handrails, overhead fans etc should be fastened to the steel
structure behind the panels. The H.P.L. faces should be drilled oversize to
accommodate the fasteners protruding through the panels.
