Marine Panels

The Custom Plastics Marine Panel System provides decorative, lightweight, fire resistant material for walls/bulkheads, ceilings/overheads, interior accommodations, and furniture in all types of sea-going vessels and offshore platforms.

USCG and MED Certified

Custom Plastics offers the only marine panel system approved for manufacture in the U.S. See the full list of US Coast Guard certifications and Marine Equipment Directive (MED) approvals below. MED approvals are in accordance with the new IMO regulations.

System Components

  • Panel Core. The PROMARINE® “core” is a non-combustible autoclaved calcium silicate panel, reinforced with selected minerals and fibers. Promarine is available in two grades: Promarine-450 and Promarine-640.

  • Panel Covering. Marine panel systems are clad with high-pressure decorative laminate (HPL), Deco-Metals, pre-finished real wood veneers, i.e. Formica Ligna. Custom Plastics can also bond aluminum, stainless steel and galvaneald to the PROMARINE® cores for use in galleys and crew lounges.

  • Adhesives. Custom Plastics fire proof adhesives provide superior adhesion and water resistance in marine applications. They were successfully tested by Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) and submitted to the U.S.C.G. for the certificates of approvals in accordance with the new IMO regulations.

  • Installation Components. Custom Plastics provides all the profiles and other installation hardware needed to mount and finish PROMARINE® panels properly.

Marine Panel Core Products

PROMARINE®-640 – The industry standard.

PROMARINE®-640 provides decorative passive fire protection. It is a lightweight, non-combustible reinforced calcium silicate panel, weighing in with a nominal dry density of 640kg/m3. PROMARINE®-640 has been supplied to major shipyards worldwide and installed on most types of sea-going vessels and offshore platforms.

PROMARINE®-450 – The lightweight choice.
PROMARINE®-450 is the latest development in calcium silicate technology, offering improved heat insulation properties while weighing 30% less, at 450kg/m3 nominal dry density. Installed on vessels where
weight of product is of major importance, PROMARINE®-450 is the panel of choice for optimum
weight efficiency. It is the lightest IMO approved marine core available today.

Working With Marine Panel Systems

Sizes and Availability

PROMARINE panels are typically provided in 4’ x 8’ sheets, in various thicknesses for specific applications. Some 4 x 10’s are available. All cores are stocked in Custom Plastics’ Folsom, CA plant. Most can be shipped within 7 days. See product specifications and lead times for more information.

No Special Tools Required

PROMARINE® panels can be cut and or drilled using standard joinery tools, although dust extraction equipment is recommended if using power tools. Panels
typically do not require any specialized handling equipment.

Asbestos Free

PROMARINE® panels contain no asbestos or other mineral fibers. No special precautions are necessary when working with the panels. High pressure laminate (HPL) is suitable for bonding to all PROMARINE® panels

US Coast Guard Approvals and Marine Certifications
