U.L. Certification Markings
- It is very important that the
applicable fire codes are strictly adhered to. The only way
to assure compliance is to require that the panel
manufacturers provide proof of this fire-rated
classification from an independent testing agency like
Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.) or equal testing agency.
- To assure continuous code compliance,
the panel manufacturing company must participate in an
on-going follow-up service program which is provided and
conducted by the independent testing agency. This provides
assurance that all fire-rated procedures are strictly
adhered to for fire code compliance.
- Product Markings – to assure that the
panels are manufactured in accordance with the applicable
fire codes, it should be mandatory that the designing firm
or general contractor require a classification sticker to be
adhered on the back of every wall panel being installed.
- Custom Plastics selected U.L. to
accomplish all of our fire testing for our various
fire-rated classifications. These are available on request
or on the U.L. web site referred in Part 2, section 2.1.A
which they maintain.
- Custom Plastics participates in the
U.L. Follow-Up Service Program, which assures continual code
compliance in our manufacturing procedures.
- Custom Plastics applies a U.L. approved sticker to the back of every wall panel to assure that code compliance is being met. We ask that you look for this sticker while inspecting the job site to assure you are getting what is required.
