Wall panel systems clad in high-pressure decorative laminate may be cleaned with
warm water and mild soaps, such as those used for hands and dishes. Do not use cleansers
which contain abrasives, acids or alkalis; they will damage the decorative surface.
Remove stubborn stains with a hypochlorite bleach such as Clorox™, followed by a
clean water rinse.
We recommend that you not allow any of the following reagents to remain in contact
with the decorative surface:
- Hypochlorite bleach, except as described above
- Hydrogen peroxide solution
- Mineral acids, such as hydrochloric, sulfuric or nitric acid
- Lye solutions containing 1% or 2% lye, such as Drano™
- Sodium bisulfate, such as Sani-Flush™
- Potassium permagnate
- Berry juices
- Silver nitrate in a 1% concentration
- Gentian voilet
- Mild silver protein, such a 20% argyrol
- Bluing
- Fabric dye, such a Tintex™ or Rit™
- Alcohol containing 1% iodine in solution
The various HPL laminate manufacturers sales representative can provide free copies
of “The ABC’s of Easy Care” which covers care and maintenance for all HPL decorative
laminates.
If you require a HPL decorative laminate which can withstand these and other chemicals,
refer to the laminate manufacturers technical data. The HPL laminate manufacturers
produce a chemical resistant or lab grade product. However, these products are not
always available for fire-rated materials.
